BEETROOT RED VELVET CAKE

    Beetroot flesh and juice add moisture and enhance the colour of this cake, creating a wonderfully vibrant red hue.
    Beetroot has an earthy sweetness. This is a comfort cake with the added satisfaction of a healthy vegetable thrown in - and no real need for red food colouring.
    As they say health comes first. Its very important to choose the right ingredients for cooking. Food colours used can be harmful for your health, you can have better alternatives to get the same colour and taste. So next time if you making a Red Velvet Cake, try making it with Beetroot. I know it taste great, but my chocolate and beet sauce is no less. Try this Natural Red Velvet Cake 

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1 cup bran flour
  2. 1 cup all purpose flour
  3. 2 tsp baking powder
  4. 1 tbsp coca powder 
  5. 1/2 cup yogurt
  6. 1/4 cup honey
  7. 1/6 cup beetroot puree
  8. 1/2 cup oil
  9. Ghee

FROSTING INGREDIENTS

  1. Heavy cream, cold
  2. Cream cheese, room temperature
  3. Powdered sugar
  4. Vanilla extract

METHOD

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C)
  2. First peel and dice beet, put that in to pressure cooker along with water. Pressure cook until 2 whistles.
  3. Then put boiled beets into blender and pure it down.Take softened ghee into a bowl, to that add sugar.Now add beet puree in ghee mixture and mix wll.
  4. Now sieve plane flour, cocoa powder, baking powder into a ghee mixture.Mix well.Add milk and combine well.
  5. Add baking soda,tsp of milk over and mix well.
  6. Now pour the batter into greased tray.
  7. Bake 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes in their pans on a wire rack for 10 minute.Release from the pan then let cool completely.

FOR FROSTING

  1. In a large bowl,beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl with heavy cream to stiff peaks. 
  2. Then fold into the cream cheese mixture
  3. cu the top of the cake. 
  4. Place one cake layer with flat side down. Spread a layer of frosting, place the second layer of cake on top of the frosting, flat side up. 
  5. Spread evenly the frosting on top and sides of the cake.
  6. Decorate the cake with crumbs and hearts.
  7. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours before serving.
