Beetroot Halwa
Beetroot Halwa is slow cooked dessert made with grated beetroot .This beetroot halwa is one of the best sweet or dessert in summer when serve to chilled. Creamy, delicious and sweet that can even be served to toddlers or kids after school and is quite filling.
To make this beetroot halwa I have used full fat milk and water. Boiled it on a low flame to thicken a bit to bring rich taste. Then added to the beetroot. However you can also make beetroot with milk only without adding water.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups beetroot grated
- 1/2 cup sugar or as you required
- 3 to 5 cardamom crushed or powdered finely.
- Ghee as you required
- 20 to 25 cashews
- As you required raisins
HOW TO MAKE THE RECIPE
- Wash beetroots under water. Peel the skin and grate them.
- Fry the cashews and raisins with ghee in kadai or pan until they turns to golden. Then keep aside in bowl.
- In that kadai or pan add beetroot grated and fry for 4 to 5 minutes to get aromatic.
- Pour milk and water and fry it till it absorbed completely. Then beetroot get cooked soft.
- Add sugar and cardamom powder . Sugar melts and moisture is released.
- Then wait for some time to dry the moisture and continue to cook further.
- Towards end add cashews and raisins.
- Serve beetroot halwa hot or warm. You can also store in refrigerate for 2 to 3 days and then while serving, just warm the halwa.
